Kate and Jake - Austin Studio Session
I met Kate and Jake through a mutual friend. We’d see each other a few times at our mutual friend’s house parties. I believe they were introduced by our friend telling the entire house that they had just gotten married and that we should all cheer (we did!).
A few months later, I bumped into them at a wedding I was photographing Jake was a groomsman and we couldn’t figure out how we knew each other. When I saw Kate later that day, it all clicked! We’re friends! And we have the same friend! It was a really funny aha moment amidst a very fun wedding day.
Fast forward and we still bump into each other pretty often, whether it’s at a mutual friend’s place or another wedding! Somehow, I always see these two and it’s always a happy coincidence. I hosted a studio session day at a studio in downtown Austin, TX. Kate signed up and I got to photograph them and their fur baby, Chloe. Chloe would dart back and forth across the studio because she was just so happy to be with her favorite people! It made it really easy to have fun and create portraits that felt so them.
I love photographing in studios because they can feel very home-y. This one in particular had very clean, minimal walls, but also cozy furniture and a warmth to it that just made the space feel so lived-in. I think studio sessions are also so lovely because we don’t really have to think about the weather! It actually was quite gloomy this day, but it made the studio feel even cozier. I think studio sessions can also be very lovely for working with children and pets as it is a controlled environment that allows for ease with taking breaks, outfit changes, snack breaks, and lovely conversation. If you’re interested in a studio session, reach out and I’d be happy to find one that fits your needs.
